Josephine Kelly is a landscape-inspired artist and the landscape of her native Donegal is her inspiration.

Intimate paintings, gentle and balanced in composition, rich and imaginative in colour, they convey a sense of harmony ireflecting rural life and the countryside around Inishowen.

These paintings are not prompted by spectacular, sweeping landscape vistas of Failte Ireland brochures. Craggy hillsides sweeping majestically down to the sea made famous by Henry and Wilkes are not her subject but less familiar sites; a knoll, the corner of a meadow, an edge of wetland. Yet, equally, the authentic flavour of the west of Ireland pervades her work.

Josephine Kelly graduated from University of Ulster, Belfast in 1997 and has since exhibited extensively in Ireland. She has also exhibited in London and Paris.

Her work is included in OPW collection, The Civil Service Collection, Northern Ireland, IBEC, The Housing Executive at NI and The Carvel Group.
